Vitalik Buterin's vision and the world computer
While Bitcoin established decentralized digital currency, Vitalik Buterin identified a fundamental limitation in BTC's scripting language: its lack of Turing-completeness prevented complex programmatic logic. In 2013, the 19-year-old programmer published the Ethereum whitepaper, proposing a blockchain capable of executing decentralized code rather than merely transferring value. This "world computer" enabled developers to deploy autonomous applications without intermediaries.
